My Great Pottery Throw Down Challenge Week 1

Time to go back to Week 1. The contestants opening challenge saw them throwing a cheese dome, fondue pan and accompanying containers.

Well.... I can’t throw so I thought I’d make a hand built version of the cheese dome, plate and dipping bowl using a slab and drape technique.

My favourite clay features this week; a black textured stoneware that always proves to be unpredictable but I love it. I couldn’t decide on a handle so I made one out of black leather to add an addition texture.

I do love cheese so I will admit to nibbling quite a bit of parmigiana whilst taking this photo.

Check out my other challenges coming soon!
