My Great Pottery Throw Down Challenge Week 3

Here’s episode 3. The Great Pottery Throw Down contestants were challenged to hand build a set of realistic fruit and a complementary fruit bowl.

Studying organic forms really isn’t my thing, I find it difficult to gauge proportions. To be honest I think I just like straight lines!

So my take on this challenge was to make something weird and away from the normal. I think I’ve kind of created a hybrid fruit based on a few exotics. Mainly taking inspiration from an un-ripened Rollina Fruit or Brazilian Custard Apple. Where the outer surface is a beautiful turquoise before turning yellow and black.

I’ve used different shades of turquoise coloured slips with a small splattering of cream satin to create different tones, and just because I felt like it I added a bit of bling to the stem. Not realistic in any way and soooooo out of my comfort zone but still had fun making it...

Check out my future challenges on here.
